Collodion at Greenbelt
Collodian at Greenbelt
The wet plate collodion process has undergone a revival as a historical technique in the twenty-first century. To mark the 50th Anniversarysary of the Greenbelt Festival, my friend and colleague on the festival team Paul Chambers set about capturing a series of portraits of Festival Makers. The smell (and after a while the taste) of the chemical process took me back to my early days starting out in photography. Documenting a few of the portraits, from initial discussion, preparing the plates, the capture to the ‘reveal’ and seeing the joy that the sitters got from the process really was something special.
